Construction Detail Kits - archisoup

You have drawn thiseaves detail before.

Four times. On four projects. From scratch.

Every practice redraws the same cavity wall, the same cill, the same threshold, and bills nobody for it. This is that library, already drawn.

What buyers say

Used on real projects

★★★★★
The level of detail and the clarity of the CAD files make them easy to implement on real projects. Precise, and they save a lot of time.
Nicholas FarmerArchitect
★★★★★
It has helped ensure my work is not only beautiful, but structurally sound and buildable.
Timothy HorselyArchitect
★★★★★
I bought this shortly after completing my RIBA Part I and Part II and I wish I had found it sooner. My studies focused on striking visuals rather than technical detailing. It has been a game-changer for understanding timber frame construction.
Cian MullardArchitecture Designer
★★★★☆
The CAD files are comprehensive, well organised and easy to use in my projects. Recommended for anyone working in steel frame construction.
Philip EversleyArchitecture Student
★★★★☆
As a recent graduate this has been an invaluable resource - clear, practical drawings that bridge the gap between theory and what actually gets built.
Angus SpringfieldArchitectural Assistant
★★★★★
A fantastic addition to my resources, and one I expect to be using for many years.

The complete set

What you're
actually buying.

A resolved junction - drawn properly, annotated, with no thermal bridging, water tight and the DPC where it belongs - takes two to three hours. Call it two.

Across a year you will pull twenty or thirty details out of this library. That is sixty hours you do not spend redrawing a cill you have drawn four times before.

At £50 an hour, that is £3,000 of studio time.

On a fixed fee it comes straight off the bottom line, on jobs that were never going to pay you to draw it again. The set costs £79. Once.

Four kits

One components library for building the details that don't exist yet, and three organised by construction type.

The Detail Template Kit - 110+ roof, wall and floor build-ups

The Detail Template Kit

110+ roof, wall and floor build-ups across masonry, steel, concrete and timber frame - plus the component and hatch library the other three kits are drawn from. This is the one you use when the detail you need isn't in any book: pick the build-up, swap the components, resolve it in an afternoon.

Timber Detail Kit - 60+ timber frame, SIP and CLT details

Timber Detail Kit

60+ foundation, wall, opening and roof details for timber frame, SIP and CLT construction. Editable and print-ready, with the junctions that actually cause arguments on site - sole plates, cill closers, ventilated eaves - drawn properly rather than diagrammatically.

Masonry Construction Detail Kit - 50+ annotated masonry details

Masonry Construction Detail Kit

50+ annotated masonry details - foundations, floors, cavity walls, window and door heads and cills, flat and pitched roofs. Cavity construction, insulation lines and DPC runs drawn continuously, so you can trace the thermal envelope through the whole set rather than detail by detail.

Drawn to be edited

These are working files, not images of details. Everything below is how they arrive.

A detail kit open in CAD, showing the layered drawing set
01File formatDWG. Opens in AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks and Rhino. No proprietary format, nothing to subscribe to.
02Scale and unitsDrawn 1:1 in metric. Scale into your sheet at whatever ratio the drawing needs.
03LayersStructured, colour-coded layer set with print-ready line weights. Drop into your template and it plots correctly first time.
04AnnotationEvery detail titled and annotated. Edit the notes rather than writing them from scratch.
05Component libraryInsulation, membranes, fixings, closers and cavity trays as reusable blocks and hatches. The parts, not just the finished drawings.
06CoverageStandard build-ups for everyday work, plus resolved bespoke junctions for the parts of a project that don't follow a manual.
07OwnershipOne payment. The files are yours to keep and to use on as many projects as you like. No subscription, no renewal, nothing to cancel.

Try before you buy

Check the linework before you spend anything

Twelve details, free, no email. Three from each of the four kits. Open them in your own CAD package and check the layer structure, the line weights, the annotation, and whether they would survive being issued from your office.

If the standard isn't what you want, you have lost nothing and I have lost nothing.

Two hundred and eighty-two more work exactly the same way.

Who drew these

Built from my own library.

These kits are the detail library I built for my own practice. I was redrawing the same junctions on every project, so I eventually drew them once, properly, and kept them.

The library grew from there. First as a private set of working files, then tidied, annotated and layered so someone else could pick it up without needing to know how I work.

They are not a textbook. They are the working files, with the standard build-ups covered and the awkward junctions resolved, so the time goes into the parts of a project that are actually specific to it.

Questions

Buy the single kit if you work in one construction type. Buy the set if you work across more than two - it costs less than three kits bought separately, and it includes the component library that makes the others straightforward to edit.

Yes. A free sample kit of twelve details, three from each kit, is available to download with no email required. Open the files in your own CAD package, check the layers, line weights and annotation, and buy only once you know the standard is what you want.

The details are supplied as DWG files, which open in AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks, Rhino and most other CAD packages. Nothing archisoup-specific is required and nothing expires.

Masonry cavity construction, timber frame, SIP and CLT, steel frame with four cladding interfaces, and concrete build-ups in the template kit. Foundations, floors, walls, window and door heads and cills, and flat and pitched roofs across all of them. Drawn in metric at 1:1.

Yes, commercially. Buying a kit licenses you, and the practice you work at, to use, edit and adapt the drawings within your own construction projects, and to issue adapted details as part of your own drawing set in your own title block. What you cannot do is publish the files, resell or redistribute them, include them in something you sell, or let a manufacturer use them to demonstrate their products.

On responsibility: these are generic details and a starting point for developing your own detail, relevant to your specific project, site and specification. They are not a project-specific design. Architectural drawings should be prepared and checked by a qualified and experienced person holding the appropriate professional indemnity insurance.

We give no assurance or guarantee of Building Regulations approval or compliance through the use of these drawings, and all drawings should be checked and approved by the appropriate approved inspectors and by the consultants engaged on your project. We accept no liability for loss or damage resulting from their use, and we may update or change them at any time without notice. Full terms are in our Terms of Use.
